01 — Quick Reference
When a unit is covered
- A new unit fitted (Asset Register: component installed) under an active policy for its catalogue item gets an entitlement: from the installation, for the term's months, and from its hours then for the term's usage limit. A refitted unit keeps the entitlement it has — refitting never restarts a warranty.
When a failure is eligible
A removal flagged for warranty review (or removed as failed) raises a candidate. It is eligible when, for the unit's entitlement:

…and the failure mode is not one of the term's exclusions. No entitlement → ineligible.
Usage at failure comes from Asset Lifecycle (the component's exposure across all its installations). If Lifecycle cannot answer, the hours on the removal are used and the candidate says snapshot; with neither, the candidate stays in reviewing — it is not decided on a guess. The reason is always written on the candidate.
Claims and recovery
- A claim can only be made for an eligible candidate, once. It is submitted to the entitlement's supplier with the evidence gathered (installation, usage, removal / work order); the response is due in 30 days.
- The supplier's decision: approved / part approved with a value creates a recovery (approved); rejected closes the candidate.
- A supplier credit is received / posted only when SAP AP posts the credit memo that names the recovery — then the claim is recovered.
